8 ICU-Critical Features

What Makes an ICU Bed Different

These are the features that distinguish a true ICU bed from an upgraded general-ward bed. Each one matters during a critical event.

CPR Quick-Release

One-touch mechanical release drops backrest to flat in under 5 seconds — critical during cardiac arrest. No software, no waiting for motors. Mechanical pin pull works even during power failure.

4-Hour Battery Backup

12V DC sealed lithium battery provides 4 hours of uninterrupted positioning during power outages. Auto-charges when mains is restored. Battery health monitor on the bed footboard.

X-Ray Translucent Backrest

4-segment carbon fiber + ABS backrest passes X-ray imaging — bedside chest X-rays without patient transfer. Critical for ICU patients on ventilators where transfer is risky.

Integrated Weighing (Option)

4-corner load cell weighing system reads patient weight without transfer. Accuracy ±0.5 kg up to 280 kg. Tare function for bedding and equipment. Essential for fluid balance management.

Trendelenburg ±15° Electric

Smooth electric Trendelenburg and reverse-Trendelenburg positioning. Critical for hypotension events, surgical aspiration risk and respiratory management. Operated from nurse panel or pendant.

5 × Silent Linear Actuators

TiMOTION or LINAK silent linear actuators — under 50 dB during motion. Five motors control backrest, knee rest, height, Trendelenburg and reverse Trendelenburg independently.

Nurse Control Panel

Integrated nurse control panel on the foot board with one-touch position presets (CPR, exam, chair, vascular). Lockout key prevents accidental adjustment by patient.

IV Pole, Drainage & Accessory Mount

Four corner sockets for IV poles, drainage hooks on side rails, monitor mounting bracket at head end, oxygen cylinder holder at foot end. Designed for ICU equipment density.

Where ICU Beds Are Used

Critical Care Applications

Six departments that demand ICU-grade beds — anywhere a critical event can happen.

Intensive Care Units

Adult and neonatal ICU, cardiac ICU, surgical ICU — the primary deployment for ICU beds with battery backup and CPR release.

Post-Anesthesia Care

PACU recovery rooms — Trendelenburg positioning for hypotension events, X-ray translucent backrest for bedside chest imaging.

Emergency Departments

ED resuscitation rooms — instant CPR auto-flat, accessory mounts for emergency equipment, central locking castors for fast transfers.

Cardiac Care Units

CCU step-down units — integrated weighing for fluid balance, low-noise motors that don't disturb post-MI patients overnight.

Specialty Surgical Units

Neurosurgical, transplant and high-acuity surgical recovery — multiple position presets configurable per protocol.

Private Hospital ICU Tenders

Private hospital ICU procurements — full documentation prepared for SFDA, UAE MOH, BPOM Indonesia tender bids.

FAQs

ICU Bed — FAQ

The questions buyers ask most often about ICU beds.

CPR release is a mechanical pin pull on each side of the backrest — pull either red CPR handle and the backrest drops to flat in under 5 seconds under controlled gas-spring resistance. Works without power, without battery, without software. After the event, the backrest is reset manually by lifting it back to position.
Lab spec is 4 hours on full charge with intermittent motor use. Real-world ICU runtime is typically 6–8 hours since motors are not constantly running. Battery auto-charges when mains is restored. Battery status indicator on the foot panel shows charge level continuously.
Yes. The 4-segment backrest uses carbon fiber composite + ABS plastic — no metal supports in the imaging area. Suitable for bedside chest X-ray and portable C-arm fluoroscopy. The metal sub-frame is below the X-ray path. Image quality is comparable to placing the cassette directly on a stretcher.
±0.5 kg accuracy across the full 280 kg range. Tare function zeros out bedding, IV poles and equipment. Suitable for ICU fluid balance monitoring. Weighing module adds ~USD 350 per bed and 14 days to lead time.
Yes — genuine LINAK (Denmark) motors are available at a ~USD 280 per bed premium over standard TiMOTION (Taiwan). Recommended for tender bids that explicitly require LINAK or European-brand motors. Both options are silent linear actuators under 50 dB.
MOQ is 10 sets. Standard lead time 30–40 days from PO confirmation due to longer assembly time. Tender-spec orders with integrated weighing or LINAK motors add 7–14 days. Weekly production photos sent every Friday.
Yes. Tender packs include CE-supported declaration, ISO 13485 facility certificate, ISO 9001 QMS, country-of-origin certificate, manufacturing license, GMP statement, factory audit report, motor manufacturer datasheet, battery safety certificate (UN 38.3) and ICU bed datasheet formatted per your MOH's tender template. Delivered within 5 working days.
24 months on the frame and electrical system, 12 months on motors, batteries and controllers. A spare parts kit (2 motors, 1 controller, 1 pendant, 1 battery, 4 casters) is included free with every 40HQ container.
